Cambridge: What to do and where to eat
It’s July, there’ll be tourists everywhere!
But if you fancy some touristing yourself, this route’s a good one: Start by the Round Church, go down St John’s Street / Trinity Street (and get a bit lost in Heffers bookshop), go up Great St Mary’s tower and look down on everyone, dodge cyclists on Kings Parade (please don’t walk backwards into the road while taking a photo), and end up at the Mill Pond, where you can watch people falling in the river (it’s considered bad form to push them yourself).
From there you’re a few minutes from the AMAZING (and free entry) Fitzwilliam Museum, and many colleges. Most of the colleges are free entry at the mo, except Kings, Johns, Trinity and Queens.
The Cambridge University Botanic Garden is a short walk out of town and charges for entry, but is very lovely (and has a nice café!) Expect to spend a couple of hours there if you go.
In-town pubs for your consideration:
Food
Bridge Street has maaaaany restaurants, as does St Andrews Street / Regent Street (this is where many of the chains live).
